Description: | Aims: To revise key aspects of level 4 and 5 material which is fundamental to a chemistry programme. Learning Outcomes: After studying the Unit, students should be able to: * Demonstrate knowledge of key aspects of all areas of fundamental chemistry expected of a BSc graduate chemist * Demonstrate an ability to solve problems across the discipline boundaries within chemistry. Skills: Independent working (F), Data Analysis (F, A), Problem solving (F, A), Group working (F). Content: Key aspects of all three branches of chemistry (inorganic, organic, physical) from Years 1 and 2 of the course will be revised through independent study augmented by a VLE site containing supporting information, directed reading and self-assessment problems in order to prepare students for an overarching, synoptic exam of the core chemistry programme up to Level 5. |
