Description: | Aims: To develop key conceptual and contextual knowledge of exercise and sports physiological issues surrounding working with specific populations in a sports performance environment. Learning Outcomes: At the end of this unit students will be able to: * Effectively identify key physiological issues when working with specific populations in a sports performance environment; * Discuss the underpinning physiology from an exercise and sports perspective; * Analyse, reflect, evaluate and critically appraise the performance needs of a population and their relevance to a specific sports performance context. Skills: Reading, Analysis, Interpretation, Application, Communication. Content: Paediatric; growth and maturation. Ageing; the masters athlete. Female athlete Weight category sports / obesity GP referral. Disability, clinical considerations and classification I (CP, visual impairment, les autres) Disability, clinical considerations and classification II (Spinal cord injuries, Amputees) Diabetic / Asthmatic Rehabilitation. |
