![]() | Aims: The key objective of this course is to: * Introduce China's business environment * Help students attain familiarity with major differences between doing business in China and the West * Provide students with theoretical framework and practical knowledge about how to do business in China. Learning Outcomes: On completion of the unit, candidates should be able to: * Develop a detailed understanding of the evolution and development of China's economic reform * Develop a detailed understanding of the relationship between Chinese government and business * Develop a detailed understanding of its industrial structure and analyse its competitive advantage in selected industries. Skills: Intellectual and practical ability to (i) Compare and contrast business environments in China against other countries (TFA), (ii) Analyse and interpret data to draw logical conclusions across a range of variables relating to doing business in China (F), (iii) Synthesise theories and models as they apply to modern Chinese business landscapes (TFA). Content: The course introduces students to the core perspectives, themes, and issues in doing business in China. * China's business environment and industry structures * The interaction between national culture and globalization process * Business opportunities, strategies and challenges related to entrepreneurship, innovation, multinational enterprises, consumer behaviours and human resource management in China. |
