Description: | Aims: To introduce the physiological adaptations that occur as a result of regular physical activity and the roles of macronutrients and energy balance in supporting health. Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to demonstrate: * Knowledge and critical understanding of the specificity of responses to different types of exercise and how the body adapts to exercise. * Understanding of the approaches to studying the investigation of changes that occur with regular physical activity. * Knowledge of the methods used to determine energy expenditure, energy intake and physical activity. * Critical understanding of the physiological and nutritional factors that are important for healthy human function.
