![]() | This unit is only available to students on the BSc Politics with Economics and the BSc Politics with International Relations. |
Aims: | To offer students the opportunity to gain practical experience in a working environment and to develop personal and organisational skills. |
Learning Outcomes: | Students who complete a work placement will have: * acquired practical experience in the application of knowledge and skills gained at the University; * developed competencies in communication, both oral and written, planning and time-management procedures, problem-solving and analytical decision-making, and gained confidence in their own ability to participate within a team framework, and assimilate and appraise new information; * acquired an understanding of the structure of employing organisations and an opportunity to investigate and assess potential career options prior to graduation. |
Skills: | Skills in communication, decision-making, problem-solving, time-management and teamwork are developed in this year, along with practical competencies relating to living and working outside the university environment. |
Content: | A work placement in a public, non-governmental or commercial agency, in the UK or abroad, approved by the Faculty Placements Officer. Students will be required to submit interim and final reports on their experience. |
