Aims: | To introduce advanced techniques for analysis, design and manufacture of aircraft structures. |
Learning Outcomes: | After successfully completing this unit the student will be able to:
* Demonstrate knowledge of metal and composite manufacturing approaches and their influence on structural performance; * Analyse featrues of composite panels; * Analyse the dynamic response of flexible wing structures. |

Content: | Manufacturing processes for aerospace structures. Mechanics of relevant processes and impact on value and performance. Buckling analysis and design of composite structures. Analysis of strength of damaged composite laminates. Lagrangian Mechanics, vibration and torsional and bending dynamics of beams, analysis of the divergence behaviour of two degree of freedom wing models, analysis of the flutter behaviour of two degree of freedom wing models. |
