Aims: | To examine physical activity and sedentary behaviours across the lifespan and how they relate to health. To explore the evidence underpinning physical activity guidelines and sedentary behaviour recommendations for different age groups. To understand how physical activity interventions have been designed and implemented for different contexts and populations. |
Content: | This unit will introduce students to the current physical activity guidelines for each age group, alongside key physical activity interventions for the different age groups and across various contexts. Students will also learn about the sedentary behaviour recommendations and interventions across the lifespan. The unit will provide students with an understanding of the health benefits of physical activity, current levels of physical activity participation, as well as an overview of the evidence base and methods that have been undertaken to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour across the lifespan. |
