Learning Outcomes: | After completing this unit, students will build competence in:
* Designing and analysing research using questionnaire designs. * Advanced methods of qualitative data collection and analysis. * Evaluating the effectiveness of the key non-experimental methods and research designs covered in this unit. * Understanding and evaluating issues relevant to the use of questionnaires and interviews in psychological research. |
Aims: | * To provide students with a more in-depth understanding and skills in conducting quantitative experimental research. * To build more advanced skills in conducting qualitative research * To enable students to analyse and report research using both quantitative and qualitative methods. |
Skills: | * Knowledge of a range of quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis techniques, and awareness of their strengths and limitations. * Competence in the analysis of a range of advanced quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis techniques.) * Skills in the conduct of experimental and non-experimental research. * Awareness of the practical and ethical considerations in the conduct of research. * Skills in effective written communication of ideas and research findings. * Problem solving skills including in the clarification of questions, consideration of alternative solutions and reflection on outcomes. * Ability to produce work to agreed specifications and deadlines * Ability to work independently and with others. |
