Learning Outcomes: |
After successfully completing this unit, you will be able to:
- Assess the health, safety and sustainability of a complex process (A2c, A4.3d) [CLO: K3]
- Identify and select the appropriate operation and configuration of that unit, and construct the unit specifications (A2.4b, A2.4a) [CLO: I2]
- Integrate advanced principles of chemical engineering to create a group product and process design for a complex, open-ended and unfamiliar scenario (A2.5b, A2b, A4.2d, A4.2b, A4.3a, A4.3c, A4.3d, A5.2a) [CLO: I2, I3, P3]
- Communicate the design and its rationale to an expert audience (A4.2f, A5.2b) [CLO: T3]
- Recognise relevant elements from other engineering disciplines (A1d) [CLO: K2]
- Apply the principles of process, plant and project economics (A2.7c, A4.3d) [CLO: K3]
- Argue for the design decisions based on the combined context of financial, technical, health and safety, environmental, and social considerations (A4.2a) [CLO: K3]
|
Aims: | This unit will introduce you to the:
- Market research to determine the quantities and features of specific products with appropriate functional behaviour derived from specific physical or chemical properties
- Selection and design of process equipment to manufacture such products, based on chemical or biochemical process plant.
You will work in teams to engage in open-ended research and apply cultural and ethical considerations to design and develop economic and sustainable solutions to complex and open-ended engineering problems.
