Synopsis: Project 1 is a group design project, and Project 2 is an individual written brief in preparation for Design Studio 6.2.
Project 1 'Regenerative Cities Masterplan' explores the impact of social context, political context, economic context, transport infrastructure, landscape context, spatial typologies, and critical contemporary sustainability issues, on the form and functioning of a group urban strategy.
The individual component (Project 2) requires you to research and analyse a chosen site and project programme, and to demonstrate the viability of the overall project. This represents the first part of the final design project of your Part Two architectural education.

Content: This Unit comprises two projects.
Project 1 known as 'Regenerative Cities' is a group project and will involve research into, and analysis of, a given urban locale including the following areas of study: social context, political context, economic context, transport infrastructure, landscape context, spatial typologies. This will result in the formulation of a group urban strategy, and subsequent individual design briefs. Specialist expertise will be provided by visiting Urban, Architectural, Landscape, Environmental and Structural Engineering consultants.

Project 2 is an Individual Brief Document which students will use to complete their final degree project in Semester 2. The city/region will be same as for the group project 1. Choice of site, project viability, brief development and precedent studies will be facilitated by individual tutorials. Specialist expertise will be provided by visiting Urban, Architectural, Landscape, Environmental and Structural Engineering consultants.
