Learning Outcomes:
  1. Critically appraise key issues in the sociology of sport, health and the body

Aims: To examine, at an advanced and specialised level, key issues, concepts, debates, methods, and career pathways in the sociology of sport, health and the body.

Content: Theory and practice in the sociology of health, specifically health practices such as sport and physical activity (e.g., feminist perspectives of intersectionality, power, theories of affect, stigma and marginalisation); contemporary social issues; sociology of sport, health and the body research and scholarship; health and embodiment; physical activity/health digital technologies; inclusivity, equality, and power; political economy; sociology of sport, health and the body career and study pathways.
