Supplementary Assessment:
Like-for-like reassessment (where allowed by programme regulations)
Requisites: Before taking this module you must take HL30562
Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explain and critique different approaches to the biomechanical analysis of sports technique and performance
  2. Compile and review existing sports biomechanics literature and  develop appropriate conclusions
  3. Formulate a protocol and conduct 3D motion analysis to evaluate a sports technique
  4. Compose a report to convey relevant interpretations of biomechanical data

Aims: To provide students with knowledge and experience of applying biomechanical concepts to sports, and develop their ability to synthesise evidence and evaluate key principles underlying sports techniques.

Content:
  • Different approaches to sport technique analysis (qualitative, quantitative and computer simulation)
  • Applied sport research case studies
  • Ground reaction force analysis from an applied sports perspective
  • Differences between 2D and 3D kinematic analysis
  • Plan and conduct a 3D kinematic technique analysis
