Learning Outcomes: |
- Explain and critique different approaches to the biomechanical analysis of sports technique and performance
- Compile and review existing sports biomechanics literature and develop appropriate conclusions
- Formulate a protocol and conduct 3D motion analysis to evaluate a sports technique
- Compose a report to convey relevant interpretations of biomechanical data

Aims: | To provide students with knowledge and experience of applying biomechanical concepts to sports, and develop their ability to synthesise evidence and evaluate key principles underlying sports techniques.

Content: | - Different approaches to sport technique analysis (qualitative, quantitative and computer simulation)
- Applied sport research case studies
- Ground reaction force analysis from an applied sports perspective
- Differences between 2D and 3D kinematic analysis
- Plan and conduct a 3D kinematic technique analysis
