Learning Outcomes:
  1. Apply theories of health behaviour change by designing and evaluating interventions 
  2. Assess exercise and health science challenges, and synthesise and interpret information in a professional or vocational context
  3. Apply relevant numeracy skills to analyse health behaviour change and explain and discuss the outcomes to a variety of audiences
  4. Plan, manage and reflect on your own learning and practice
  5. Employ ethical and respectful working practices with clients, participants and peers



Aims: To develop students' knowledge and skills of the application of behavioural science (incorporating psychological theory and evidence) into practice, focusing on interventions to promote physical activity behaviour change. To facilitate an integrated and strategic understanding of how practical and scientific knowledge combine in the design, delivery and implementation of behaviour change interventions.

Content: Introduction to contemporary applications of psychology within the field of behavioural science current within public health. To include understanding of behaviour change taxonomies, provide training in the delivery of specific behaviour change techniques and reflective practice, the communication of critical evaluations of behavioural science research to non-academic audiences, and understanding of fidelity to protocol and implementation challenges in the application of behavioural science research into practice.
