Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to critically evaluate and explain an advanced mathematical topic in a chosen research area, and to demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and techniques involved.


Aims: The aim of the unit is for the student to gain experience of advanced mathematical theories; to develop an understanding of a higher level of mathematical knowledge; and to develop research skills.

Skills: Study skills, research skills and cognitive skills, plus communication skills.
