Learning Outcomes: By the end of the unit, you will be able to: 1. Identify and systematically apply relevant contemporary retail literature to business issues 2. Communicate with and persuade others through informed opinion, and negotiate support for ideas. 3. Identify opportunities and risks in the current retailing landscape 4. Apply problem-solving skills in areas of uncertainty in the retail sector


Synopsis: Apply what you have learned in other units to real industry situations to develop insights and make strategic recommendations. This could include researching real issues, meeting with guest speakers and visiting companies. You will develop your skills in: - problem-solving - analysis - communication - negotiation - leadership - presenting

Content: This unit bridges retail theory with practice. Students will be able to apply what they learn in other units in the course to business issues facing retailers now and in the future. Contemporary business challenges evolve over time, and so will the exact challenges covered, but the unit includes elements relating to problem-solving and analysis of business issues. It also aims to develop skills to work and communicate with relevant stakeholders in the retail sector.
