Requisites:
Learning Outcomes: After following this course, the student will be familiar with the broad structures of employment relations in Spain and Britain, have a good understanding of basic terminology used in this field, and be able to make informed comparisions between the two national situations.


Aims: To introduce students to key concepts, approaches and vocabulary in the field of employee relations; to examine structures and institutions of employment relations in a comparative context, focusing particularly on Spain and Britain; to explore cultural differences and similarities influencing employment relations and the possible impact of Europeanisation.

Content: (1) Historical/cultural setting of employee relations.
(2) Interest representation.
(3) Collective bargaining.
(4) The future of trade unions and employee representation.
