  • Familiarise with main trends and practical aspects of public finance in the UK and the world.
  • Critically assess tax policy debates.



Synopsis: "Study tax instruments and their impact on the wider economy, and the theoretical, practical, and institutional aspects of taxation. You will start by learning about the principles of tax policy and welfare costs of taxation and build towards the wider topic of optimal tax policy. You will also explore relevant topics such as: - tax avoidance and evasion - public debt and its sustainability - government student loan repayments - decentralised methods for generating public revenue"
