  • Outline the components of different study designs used in sports performance research
  • Interpret the data produced from different methods of analysis used in sports performance research
  • Discuss considerations for working with human participants in sport performance research



Synopsis: Acquire introductory knowledge and first-hand experience in order to conduct research in the sports performance context.

Content: Approaches to research: Epistemology, ontology, methodology. Theoretical research. Experimental research. Study design: Experimental, questionnaire, observation, interview. Data analysis methods: descriptive statistics, inferential statistics. Qualitative analysis methods (e.g. Hierarchical content analysis, thematic analysis). Working with participants; Ethical considerations. Participant experience. Sampling methods.
