After completing this unit, the students will learn how to:

Synopsis: | Gain fundamental knowledge of key concepts, theories and models to effectively manage people in contemporary organisations. You'll learn to recognise the significance of HR functions and explore a range of practices from recruiting employees to managing employment relations. You will also explore contemporary policy developments and management practices from the perspective of the organisation and the employee. |
Content: | The unit content will include the following topics:
Introduction to HRM theories/models; HRM Functions (Recruitment, Selection, Negotiation, Training and Development; Performance Management); HRM Outcomes (commitment, engagement, performance, turnover); HR Professionals Role (Leger and Ulrich's Models). Selection, Negotiation, Performance Appraisals and Turnover topics will be supported with the in-class role play exercises. |
