Synopsis: | Develop your understanding of the principles of investment banking. You will explore the role of investment banks in the financial services sector and the global economy.

Content: | Key elements to be included:
- Introduction to investment banks, including: history of investment banking, regulatory changes over time, organisational structure of banks, costs, revenues and strategies.
- Underwriting: equity (initial public offerings, follow on offerings), corporate bonds.
- Mergers and Acquisitions: the role of investment banks in acquisitions.
- Leveraged Buyouts: characteristics, roles of investment banks, exit strategies.
- Valuation: comparable companies analysis, precedent transaction analysis and discounted cashflow analysis.
- Ethics and conflicts of interest.
