On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
Demonstrate good knowledge of basic grammatical structures and be able to use and understand more complex structures of the language of study;
Use grammatical and syntactic structures correctly in written texts ranging from areas of simple narration and immediate need to longer written texts;
Display command of several basic communicative functions and of a broader range of vocabulary;
Demonstrate oral skills in a variety of familiar subjects and situations;
Demonstrate an understanding of the target language's cultural and political trends in a historical context. |
| Synopsis: | Develop your knowledge and familiarity with your chosen language.
You will receive an introduction to grammar, and develop your writing, speaking and listening skills. This combination will improve your vocabulary and prepare you for communicative situations.
Youll also develop an understanding of the major issues in society, politics and culture within the country your language originates from.

| Content: | The course begins with an intensive introduction to the foundations of the language allowing students to progress rapidly. Students will develop integrated skills in written and spoken language, receive a solid grounding in grammar and will be able to produce effective communication in the target language in a variety of real-life situations. Students will also gain a grounding in issues and debates in the culture, politics and society of the country or countries where the language is spoken. |
