Youll explore more technical and nuanced materials, and learn to apply key methodological approaches in translation projects.
Youll develop expertise in a range of advanced skills and techniques required to embark on a career as a professional linguist, and gain exposure to complex translation tasks that require familiarity with terminology relating to a number of specialist fields. |
Content: | This unit will cover a range of advanced text types, including legal, commercial, scientific and technological, cultural, historical and literary texts. The unit will also further explore key aspects of translation in greater detail, including register, tone, prosody, syntax and lexis. This unit will also apply advanced theoretical concepts and theories relating to the translation process to enable you to build on transferable key skills such as written expression, self-direction and an awareness of your own performance. You will complete four pieces of summative coursework throughout the semester. |
