Requisites:
Learning Outcomes: Analyse the current public policy in the management of minor illnesses
Gather a range of clinical information, including using basic physical examination skills, to formulate differential and working diagnoses, implementing holistic plans for patient care in the context of a minor illness
Identify and evaluate decision making theory and apply this in practice to support the management of minor illness
Understand and evaluate the routes of access to Over-The-Counter (OTC) medicines
Critically evaluate the role of the pharmacist and medicines counter assistant in the OTC supply process
Understand the fundamentals in the conditions that commonly present as minor illnesses
Apply principles of basic clinical examination in the context of minor illnesses
Reflect on own practice in this therapeutic area and identify areas for improvement.


Aims: Provide learners a broad overview of the management of minor illness in primary care.
Increase the understanding of the contribution a pharmacist can make in responding to patients' minor illness symptoms including in a first contact practitioner role.
