Synopsis: Develop the core skills and knowledge required for professional social work practice with children and families. Youll explore legislative and policy frameworks that guide practice, theories of child development, how to make use of research to inform practice and make evidence-informed judgements, undertaking assessments and specific areas of practice involving direct work with children.

* Key areas of legislation and policy for statutory social work;
* Contemporary childcare policy, practice and research;
* Using evidence to inform practice;
* Partnership working with families and multi-agency professionals;
* Theories, models and application to practice with children and their families;
* The process of assessment, planning, intervention and review;
* Specialist areas of child and family social work.
