Learning Outcomes: After successfully completing this unit, you will be able to:
* Combine and apply the transport properties and interactions of complex fluids, solids and multiphase systems to evaluate complex and integrated mechanisms to chemical engineering problems (A2.2b, A2.2e) [CLO: I1]
* Access available technology and indentify limitations for a given chemical engineering challenge (A2, A6d) [CLO: I3]
* Choose and apply appropriate techniques and information to design the product, tool or device (A2, A6b) [CLO: P2]
* Relate information from other disciplines to the choice of technology and design (A6f) [CLO: P1]
* Compare, recommend and justify the choice of technology for a given chemical engineering challenge (A2, A6d) [CLO: I2]
* Select and apply advanced principles to new and as-yet unsolved complex and uncertain separation and reaction problems in chemical engineering (A2.4a, A2.2c, A6a, A6b) [CLO: P3]

Aims: This unit will aim to convey an overview and a deeper understanding of the core principles of chemical and biochemical engineering.

Skills:
* The ability to conceptualise complex chemical engineering (bio) processes (T,F,A)
* The ability to specify and critically evaluate chemical engineering (bio) processes (T,F,A)

Content:
* Advanced core knowledge in chemical and biochemical engineering
* Relevant advanced chemical and biochemical engineering concepts, particularly advanced (bio)process engineering and process optimisation.
