Synopsis: | Youll get further experience in team workingand developing your engineering design, commercial awareness and professional skills through design, manufacture and test projects. Youlladvance your digital skills and covertopics includingobject orientated programming, machine learning and PCB manufacture. There is also the opportunity to get involved with our student-led competition teams, vertically integrated projects with otheryear groups, or work on group or individual projects. |
Content: | Professional skills (teamwork, communication, time and project management, ethics and research integrity, risk assessment, standards, regulations and quality management, information gathering & reflection)
Student led design, simulation, manufacture & test projects (Design project according to specialism includes selection and evaluation of technical literature)
Application of core knowledge (such as control, power electronics, circuit design)
Advanced programming and software engineering with Python (including structured and modular programming, introduction to object orientated programming and machine learning/iterative problem solving, memory usage, code optimisation)
Design, simulation and implementation of digital systems using reconfigurable logic (counters, state machines, microprocessors, arithmetic)
PCB design & manufacture, advanced soldering
EMC, EM and thermal considerations
