Learning Outcomes: |
- Discuss relevant research techniques across the health and exercise science sub-disciplines in the context of information communication and other health technologies
- Evaluate the use of health technologies to address health and exercise science challenges
- Discuss the need for an interdisciplinary approach to the application and evaluation of health technologies
- Assess how technologies are currently used in healthcare and behavioural settings, and synthesise and interpret information about their effectiveness and utility in an applied context
- Use information and health technologies to evaluate health and communicate findings to a variety of audience

Aims: | To provide students with a comprehensive understanding and critical awareness of applications of various health technologies, through the history of their development and their role in facilitating, promoting, or supporting health and healthy behaviours.

Content: | - Definitions, types and history of medical and commercial technologies
- Current applications of e- and m-health technologies and other innovations from individuals to practice to policy
- Differing perspectives on the use of health technologies (i.e. through the eyes of the health and exercise sub-disciplines).
- Rationale/justification/context for the uptake of health technologies
- Principles of Health Technology Assessment and how to evaluate immerging health technologies
