Integrate motivation theory within contemporary physical activity research in a professional context to a professional audience
Translate scientific research into practical motivational strategies to enhance health and well-being within and across physical activity domains


Aims: To advance students' ability to appraise how knowledge, concepts, research methodology, and skills from empirically supported theories of motivation enhance our understanding of health and well-being within physical activity domains. To assess and synthesise key theoretical and applied issues related to applying motivation knowledge from physical activity settings to important societal issues and challenges.

Learning outcomes: 1. Appraise the theoretical and applied contribution of current motivation research by providing coherent, evidence-based written arguments 2. Translate scientific research into practical motivational strategies to enhance health and well-being within and across physical activity domains 3. Articulate and logically argue the relevance and benefits of motivation research and practice to engage with a range of public health stakeholders. 4. Content: Advanced knowledge of key theories of human motivation, contemporary issues and debates, application of theory to practice, research methodologies. Grant application writing.�¿
