Requisites:
Learning Outcomes: Develop sustainable strategies for independent, lifelong learning and future professional development Critically discuss evidence-based rehabilitation programmes based on own clinical experience Justify the roles and responsibilities of the various clinicians within a multi-disciplinary team in meeting the needs of athletes in the student's own clinical environment Develop positive and supporting relationships with patients and the MDT using appropriate communication methods Synthesise and apply knowledge gained in this and other modules in the management of a broad range of sport and exercise conditions


Synopsis: Produce a professional practice portfolio to identify and develop your ongoing learning needs. You'll focus on using reflective practice, and continuing clinical and education experiences (alongside academic development in the other units of the course) to compile a portfolio which covers: - your profile as a learner - your personal and/or professional development plans - your accumulation of football-related practice hours - case studies and experiences relevant to the course content

Content: Compilation of a portfolio of experiential learning Application of knowledge relevant to the clinical practice of Sport and Exercise Medicine. Appraisal of the scientific evidence-base to provide appropriate and justified management. The wider multidisciplinary sports team as it applies to the treatment and prevention of injury and illness and to rehabilitation The demands of different sports and settings in which SEM is practiced Students will receive guidance from a professional development advisor, who is a trained sports medic, to support their learning in this unit.
