Synopsis: | "Develop a critical understanding of the psychological factors that influence sports performance, and how the psychological characteristics and skills of athletes can be enhanced to improve sports performance.
You will examine the role of a sport psychologist and explore how they assess the needs of athletes." |
Content: | Introduction to the sport psychology consulting process: e.g., intake, needs analysis, case formulation, and intervention choice and plan.
Overview of core psychological factors linked to performance (theory and research): e.g., stress and coping, anxiety and attention, mental toughness and resilience, motivation and self-confidence, and flow and psychological momentum.
Insight into dominant psychology training strategies (application): e.g., goal setting, self-talk, imagery, arousal regulation, and pre-performance routines |
