| Aims: | The aim of this unit is to teach students the importance and means for ensuring that public health approaches and policies can be scaled up and sustained through careful planning and multisectoral and multistakeholder collaboration. |
| Content: | This unit will cover the importance of scalability and sustainability in effective public health policies and approaches, such as those evaluated in Unit 5, to ensure lasting and wide reaching impacts on population health. It will consider horizontal, vertical and spontaneous scale up along with programmatic research, strategy and guidance for successful scaling up. It will cover the legislative and policy support needed for scaling up and sustaining public health approaches and policies, as well as identifying the challenges to these, including conflicts of interest from other sectors and stakeholders. The unit will cover the required organisational changes and financial investment needed for scale up and sustainability, along with the barriers and facilitators to these. |
