Synopsis: | Gain conceptual, analytical and practical insights into the effective management of operations in all organisations, in both the private and the public sectors. Learn about concepts such as capacity management and operations design, and explore traditional and more contemporary approaches to operations planning and control as well as strategies, tools and techniques for operations improvement. |
Content: | After a general introduction the unit exposes students to some of the challenges of operations management, and ways of addressing these challenges.
The content then moves on to look at topics such as capacity management, operations design, traditional and more contemporary approaches to operations planning and control. The unit also explores strategies, tools and techniques for operations improvement.
Whenever possible interactive learning activities, such as learning games, will be used to demonstrate the topics of operations management in a realistic setting. |
