Learning Outcomes: On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
* Demonstrate a good understanding of the major theoretical constructs, models and debates that inform the study of people in organisations.
* Begin to critically evaluate alternative classical and contemporary social science theories/models used in practice.
* Begin to critically analyse key organisational behaviour and managerial concepts and issues at an individual, group and organisational level.
* Gain an appreciation of the specific context and setting within which organisational behaviour takes place.


Synopsis: Explore the behaviours, relations, processes and structures that are a part of organisational life. You'll learn about the major theoretical models that are (or have been) used to analyse organisations, groups and individuals. You will also reflect on key themes in people and organisations with a focus on identifying emerging areas in management, organisational studies, human resource management and employee relations.

Content: The unit will cover key concepts and issues in understanding and managing people in organisations. Themes covered will include key micro and macro theoretical perspectives on organisational behaviour and people management, and will touch upon issues related to leadership, power, culture, ethics, and conflict.
