Learning Outcomes: |
While taking this unit, the student should be able to:
- use physical computing to control and measure simple electronics circuits and experiments;
- use a range of data modelling techniques to analyse and visualise astrophysical "big-data" sets and draw evidence-based conclusions;
- apply a range of different strategies for solving open-ended scientific problems within experimental and data-analysis projects.
Synopsis: | You will advance your physics skills in particular areas, providing a platform for your extended project work in later years. You will use physical computing to control and measure electronic circuits and experiments. You will use a range of data modelling techniques to analyse and visualise astrophysical big-data sets and learn how to draw evidence-based conclusions from this.
Content: | Experimental Laboratory: Students will perform at least 2 high level experimental investigations. They will use a range of advanced instrumentation including basic automation for control and measurement.
Advanced Data Analysis: TBC
