Synopsis: | Gain an overview of key questions about the EUs role and capacity as a collective actor in the world today.
You'll consider how rules are generated in the EU and how they are applied within and outside of its borders. Through theoretical and empirical analysis of specific cases, you'll develop analytical skills and knowledge of the EU and its place within the global order. |
Content: | The unit begins with an overview of the EUs development, with reference to integration theories and other appropriate theories from comparative politics and international relations. The Unit then considers specific cases of the generation and application of rules within and outside the EU, and the interplay of interests and ideas in the functioning of the organization. |
