Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
* evaluate the nature and impact of political and economic developments in France
* apply knowledge to analyse the opportunities and limitations different economic developments and global trends represent;
* critically evaluate the link between economic, social and political developments;
* discuss issues raised in spoken and written form in the target language.


Synopsis: Develop your knowledge of French-speaking economies and firms in the global economic context. You will explore and debate topics such as: - globalisation theories - economic and financial crises - foreign direct investments - the employment market - cultural industries This approach will develop your skills in critical analysis, conceptual thinking, independent judgement and reasoned argument.

Content: This unit will:
* Explore 20 and C21 French political economy
* Examine the French model of capitalism
* Develop an understanding of political processes and economic reforms
* Explore the impact of international powers and economic trends on national and regional development
* Analyse the impact and reaction to the most recent wave of globalisation
