Aims: To ensure students meet the Social Work England's Professional Standards (PS) and satisfactorily evidence that they have the knowledge, skills and values related to the nine domains of the Professional Capability Framework (BASW). By the end of the second placement & the completion of qualifying programmes newly qualified social workers should have demonstrated the Knowledge, Skills and Values to work with a range of user groups, and the ability to undertake a range of tasks at a foundation level, the capacity to work with more complex situations; they should be able to work more autonomously, whilst recognising that the final decision will still rest with their supervisor; they will seek appropriate support and supervision.

Skills: During the Social Work Practice Placement Year 3 (90 day placement) students will be provided with the opportunities through practice and assessment to confirm that they meet the qualifying social work level of capabilities. Students will develop knowledge skills and values in relation to the nine domains of the Professional Capability Framework and Social Work England's Professional Standards (see learning outcomes, above). Students will be provided with opportunities to confirm the evidence relating to the nine domains of the Professional Capability Framework that has underpinned their practice. (These skills, below, will be taught, facilitated and assessed.)

Content: During the Social Work Practice Placement Year 3 (90 days) students will be provided with different opportunities to confirm that they have developed their knowledge, skills and values that relate to the nine domains of the Professional Capability Framework. This will be facilitated by engagement in a placement of 90 days in an agency providing practice learning opportunities for Social Work and Applied Social Studies students.
