Terms Of Reference

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, review and monitor the University-wide Research Sabbatical Scheme
  • Set the guidelines under which the Research Sabbatical Scheme will operate
  • Set University-wide criteria and policy for sabbatical research leave application with due regard for matters of equality, diversity and inclusivity
  • Advise the Deans and the Associate Deans (Research) on all matters relating to research leave
  • Hold one call for applications per academic year, and award research sabbatical leave according to the criteria for the scheme
  • Provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants
  • Receive end of Research Sabbatical Leave reports from staff upon completion of the period of leave and provide feedback where appropriate
  • Disseminate case studies about research sabbatical leave to encourage applications across the University
  • Provide annual reports to Council

Quorum: Three

Frequency of meetings: Typically one meeting per year
