Join us to celebrate the Lantern Festival (元宵节, Yuánxiāo Jié) on 12 February 2025!
This traditional festival, celebrated on the first full moon in the lunisolar Chinese calendar, marks the conclusion of Chinese New Year festivities. With over 2,000 years of history, it symbolises unity, harmony, and the welcoming of spring. Traditionally, people go out at night carrying paper lanterns and solve riddles on the lanterns.
The Lantern Festival is sometimes known as "Chinese Valentine’s Day" because young men and women who normally would not have much chance to meet each other under ancient customs, could freely socialise during the festival under the glow of lanterns.
