What is Management meets?
The Management meets series aims to provide expert insight into a variety of industries, professions and topics.
This is a forum for building on expertise by asking questions, discussing challenges and networking with others in the field.
Who is this event for?
The themes of this event will resonate with everyone, whether you're an avid social user or choose to minimise time on social platforms. It will be of particular interest to:
- those working in organisations who value their relationships with customers, particularly on social media
- people who are struggling with their perception and/or usage of social media, both personally and professionally and are looking for inspiration
- those working in a brand or marketing function within an organisation
- business leaders looking to drive future growth for their brand/organisation in the digital space
What will the event cover?
Hosted by Professor Sarah Glozer, University of Bath School of Management, with speakers from the global social agency, Social Element, the evening will be an open discussion around the question 'how can social media be a force for good?' Joining us from Social Element will be Managing Director, Alex Attfield, Head of Social, Alice Cuffe and Social Manager, Bekah Ellis to explore key questions about social media and look at how businesses can harness the power of social media for growth. You can read more about our panel at the bottom of the page, or check out Social Element's Instagram or LinkedIn.
The session will be focused on a live poll. Audience members will be able to input ideas on how to make social media better with lived examples and case studies from the panellists on topics such as:
- has social media helped people learn something new about themselves?
- does social media give access to communities that people otherwise can't access in real life?
- how can social media help grow your career or business?
- what can brands and businesses do to be part of the solution?
The poll is already open and responses are encouraged from everyone, even those who can't attend the event. You can provide your views on the Better Social Swipe whenever you want.
What can I expect in this session?
This session will be an honest and unfiltered discussion around the light and dark of social media and how it is used. As well as hearing from the panellists' experience, examples from different industries and cutting-edge research, you will be able to:
- get involved in the discussion and share your perspectives
- pose your questions to a panel with years of research and experience in social media
- connect with like-minded individuals
