The One Young World Bath (OYWB) conference returns, hosting a range of discussions with leaders looking to accelerate progress towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
Bringing together young people to exchange ideas and solutions to current societal issues, OYWB 2024 will host inspirational speakers and interactive workshops based around the UN's SDGs:
- Climate Justice (SDG: Climate Action)
- Peace and Reconciliation (SDG: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions)
- Mental Health and Sports (SDG: Good Health and Well-being)
Complementing these sessions, participants can look forward to a complimentary lunch and networking opportunities throughout the day.
This one-day immersive conference will be held in the School of Management building, on the University of Bath campus.
This year's speakers
We are inviting speakers and panellists creating waves in their respective fields.
They will discuss our themes in further depth through workshops, followed by networking sessions for you to get to know them better. Below are the speakers and panellists we have the honour of hosting this year.
Climate Justice
- Sophia Hatzisavvidou: Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Bath with a research focus on on ecological politics
- Dave Hughes: a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and expert in agricultural technologies
- Swati Murthy: Director of Sustainability at Tata Consultancy Services and winner of the Digital Transformation Leader of the Year award 2023
- Faisal Sharif: UKRI-ESRC funded Doctoral researcher at the University of Bath and Director (Projects Appraisal) at PPIB, Ministry of Energy, Government of Pakistan
Peace and Reconciliation
- Tiril Høye Rahn: peace advocate and doctoral researcher at the University of Oxford specialising in UN peacekeeping and civilian protection
- Fernando Montaño: One Young World Counsellor and patron of the 'Children Change Columbia' charity
- Jason Hart: social anthropologist at the University of Bath whose work focuses on the experience of young people on the margins of society
- Ahmad Alkuchikmulla, student at the University of Bath
Mental Health in Sports
- Robin Lockhart: Global Youth Worker of the Year by the Commonwealth in 2016 and 2018
- Abbie Watkin: recent Health and Exercise Science graduate from the University of Bath and Personal Trainer at Team Bath Gym
- Luke Turley: professional swimmer and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist
- Joe Choong: Olympic Gold Medallist in Modern Pentathlon and the first British athlete to win the European Under-16 title
- Matthew Legg: founder of global mental health and sport brand: Psych Strength
- Maria Crowfoot, Level 3 Rugby Coach working as Women and Girls Lead at Bath Rugby
