About Language PAL sessions

PAL sessions are managed by the SU and facilitated by PAL leaders, who are native or near native speakers of the language they lead. PAL sessions will support you to:

  • practise the language in an informal and fun way
  • improve your language and intercultural skills under the guidance of a fellow student
  • meet with students from all disciplines and levels of study

Benefits of PAL sessions

PAL sessions are a useful and fun way to build on the topics you are learning in the classroom or in your independent language learning. You can also increase your intercultural knowledge by exploring the culture of the country or countries where the language you study is spoken.

PAL leaders also:

  • have the opportunity to celebrate their home culture
  • gain valuable transferable skills, such as planning, facilitation, coaching, and leadership
  • meet people from around the world

SUPPlement English

In addition to Language PAL, the SU also organise SUPPlement sessions, which are a social and interactive space to practice your English skills through reading, writing and speaking.

The aim of SUPPlement is to bring together non-native English language speakers over the course of 6 weeks to engage in interactive activities and enhance their English skills. The sessions are free, but you do need to book a place in advance.
