About the role

The School of Management is seeking to appoint a job share Academic Services Manager on a 0.6 FTE open ended contract.

The School of Management is one of the UK’s leading Business Schools, located in an impressive new building with state-of-the art resources near the city of Bath. Our extensive offerings encompass undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes, alongside tailored executive education options for both individuals and organisations. With a dedicated team of over 100 teaching and research professionals, complemented by a support staff of around 90 managerial and administrative experts (referred to as Professional Services, ‘PS’), we cultivate a vibrant working environment.

This role is part of a close-knit team which works inside the Dean’s Office to achieve the School of Management’s goals in the area of academic support.

The academic wing of the School of Management is split into four Divisions.   In each, academic leadership comes from one Head of Division and two or three Subject Group Leads with the Academic Services Manager(s) (job share) and two Divisional Coordinators providing PS support.

The role holder will be a business partner to the four academic Heads of Division and will establish excellence across all Divisions with regards to:

  1. Academic workload allocation;
  2. Academic resource planning at School-level and within each Subject Group;
  3. Recruitment and induction processes;
  4. Academic staff development;
  5. Academic performance reviews.

This is a busy and varied role which requires the post-holder to have excellent communication, people management and organisational skills.

The post-holder must be able to work to tight deadlines on their own initiative, and to learn new systems and procedures rapidly.

For an informal discussion, please contact the Head of Dean’s Office, Jenny Armstrong on jra44@bath.ac.uk
