Deputy Director - Major Campus Infrastructure Projects

Could you be the University's Deputy Director of Major Campus Infrastructure Projects? This is a new opportunity to take the lead on delivery of significant capital projects such as a 900 bed student residence on campus, circa £110m and leading collaborative efforts with internal and external partners to achieve significant project milestones. 

You will take strategic responsibility for major capital project and provide leadership for the effective delivery of all capital projects, on time, on budget, to agreed quality specification and in line with University’s policies and procedures. A crucial aspect of this role will be nurturing and maintaining positive relationships with the many internal and external stakeholders and a sensitivity to the University’s location in the UK’s only UNESCO heritage city. You will work in partnership with senior management, faculties and other stakeholders to anticipate the needs of the University to meet its current and future challenges in respect of the built environment. You will act as a champion of effective and efficient operation through performance management, partnership building, critical analytical thinking, risk management and time critical decision making.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Provide leadership and strategic responsibility for all major capital works
  • Create and maintain internal and external customer relationships, manage feedback and satisfaction to ensure constant service improvement
  • Embed a customer service ethos in the project management team and their approach

Our desired candidate will have:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in construction, project management, facilities management or related discipline
  • Recognised H&S qualification e.g. NEBOSH
  • Substantial experience at senior manager level within an organisation of comparable scope, size and complexity
  • Chartered Engineer or Fellow of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and a project management qualification are desirable but not essential

  • The role involves being a part of an on-call rota
  • Deputising for the Director of Campus Infrastructure when required
  • Occasional UK travel, with some overnight stays to attend conferences, networks and programmes outside Bath
