Martin Gore Head of Employability (Humanities & Social Sciences)

Martin manages a team of placements officers and administrators, supporting over 700 Humanities students each year in their search for employment opportunities.

Role

Martin’s team engage with hundreds of employers and support students from the Departments of Psychology, Health, Politics, Languages & International Studies, Social & Policy Sciences, Economics and Education. From the students’ first year they are offered advice and support on professional development and applying for placement opportunities. Once they are on placement, the team provides ongoing support to ensure students have the best experience possible. Martin is also involved in extensive business engagement and relationship management with corporate partners, public sector links, SMEs and charities/NGOs. In addition his role provides an important link to academic stakeholders within the faculty.

Career

Martin started his career with JP Morgan in their Treasury Services department before working for an international recruitment consultancy that focused on IT and Telecommunications roles in the EMEA region. He subsequently worked as a teacher of modern foreign languages and a freelance translator before moving into higher education in 2016 when he became a Placements Officer at the University of Bath.

Education

Martin completed both a BA and MA in Languages and European Cinema at the University of Bath.
