Project Lead: Dr Janina Hoffman, Department of Psychology

The project seeks to enrich the educational experience within the MSc Applied Psychology and Economics program by integrating future career outlooks and real-world applications of decision science research. It aims to augment career prospects for MSc students and supplement current instructional approaches by infusing practical uses of theoretical principles. Drawing inspiration from esteemed practices in prominent business schools and undergraduate programs, the initiative endeavours to narrow the divide between academic theories and their practical implementation in real-world scenarios.

Specifically, the project intends to: 1. Improve student knowledge about prospective career pathways. 2. Demonstrate and discuss applications of decision science research in professional practice. 3. Design and/or evaluate previous practical interventions. 4. Facilitate the building of professional networks for students. Anticipated Outcomes: • Development of a database for case studies • Creation of teaching material utilizing these case studies • Hosting of 2-4 online career events focusing on future pathways. The project contributes to the university's priority of excellence in teaching by fostering critical thinking and demonstrating the practical value of decision science. It underlines the university’s commitment to equality and diversity by providing opportunities for underrepresented and disadvantaged groups through allowing insights into diverse career pathways and facilitating connections with professionals.

Project outcomes due Autumn 2025.
