As campus goes quiet for the summer, Student Support has organised a number of supported social opportunities for students staying in Bath to connect.

Our activities are particularly helpful if you are feeling a bit lonely or if you struggle to make conversation, feel socially awkward or don’t like to turn up to activities on your own. A member of staff is always at our events to help reduce these worries and create an inclusive space.

Connect on Campus

Join us for a chat on Wednesday 12 June, free hot / cold drinks, some mindful colouring or a quiet board game, and meet other students who are in Bath over the summer.

Connect in Nature (Garden Club)

Try out our weekly Garden Club on Wednesday 12 June and experience the dual benefit of connecting with others and connecting with nature. No gardening knowledge is required – just come and enjoy a cup of tea and a moment of peace in the garden if you like!

Social Networking Group (SNG)

SNG is a regular social group for students who, for whatever reason, are feeling lonely or isolated. It is facilitated by Hannah (our Social Interventions Lead) and we do different activities each week, including throughout the summer.

Connection Café

The National Trust are launching a new way to connect via a series of Connection Cafés over the summer. Starting on Friday 28 June at the Bath Assembly Rooms, the Café will offer free tea, coffee and cake and a chance to meet new people during a creative session inspired by the Assembly Rooms.

Loneliness Awareness Week

June 10th - 16th is Loneliness Awareness Week, and we wanted to take this opportunity to remind all students that a) it’s normal to feel lonely, b) there is support available to you.

If you’re feeling lonely and would like to talk to someone about what might help you, please contact our Student Support Advice Team, open 365 days a year.

If you’re wondering what to do over the summer in Bath, then our Summer at Bath page has lots of ideas.
