We are delighted that Professor Andrew Plummer, Director of the Centre for Power Transmission and Motion Control, has been awarded the 2024 ASME Robert E Koski Medal in recognition of his “outstanding contributions to fluid power and motion control research and education, particularly in the field of servohydraulic systems, and for leadership in the fluid power research community.”
The prestigious Medal has been awarded annually by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers since 2007 recognize individuals who have advanced the art and practice of fluid power motion and control through education and/or innovation.
Andrew has completed numerous consultancy and research projects across a wide array of industries, with a special focus on closed-loop control, system modelling and the inclusion of novel technology such as piezoelectric actuation and additive manufacturing into fluid power systems. As Director of the Centre for Power Transmission and Motion Control, Andrew is also involved in creating and delivering the Centre's continuing professional development (CPD) courses for industry, supporting both national and international companies with education in fluid power, control and electrical drives.
We are especially proud that Andrew is already the Centre's second Koski medallist, after Cliff Burrows in 2008. Andrew will be presenting the keynote address at this year's Bath/ASME FPMC - Symposium on Fluid Power and Motion Control.
