Green Week

The University and the SU have collaborated to create Green Week, a week-long programme of events and activities focused on sustainability and the climate.

What's on?

Here's everything you need to know about Green Week and how you can get involved.

Monday 11 March

  • Got a creative eye? Take part in our Climate Action Photography Competition; there are various themes you can choose from. This competition is open to all.
  • Immerse yourself in nature, join the Wildlife Walk, and explore the woodlands around campus. Meet outside the Library. 11:00 - 11:45am
  • Take part in a Climate Café. This is a supportive, welcoming, small group space where people can share their feelings about the climate and ecological crisis. Booking required. 11:30am - 1:00pm
  • Do you have a green thumb? Sign up for the Terrarium Making session. Booking required. Sessions running from 12:30 - 3:20pm. Students only
  • Try out our Climate Literacy taster session. Have the opportunity to sign up for the full course and gain accreditation! Learn more about Climate Literacy. 3:30- 4:30pm
  • Take a break from the indoors and join the Sham Castle Walk. Booking is required. 1:15 - 2:05pm. Students only
  • Eat more greens, take advantage of the SU Bar's vegan and vegetarian food deals, available Monday to Friday!

Tuesday 12 March

  • Mend the things you love and pay a visit to the Repair Café. 11:00am- 3:00pm
  • Hear how Cafe Direct supports farmers through Fairtrade and uses science-based targets to help mitigate the effects of climate change on producers and their communities. Booking required. 1:15 - 2:15pm
  • Fly into creativity at the Sustainable Birdhouse Making session. Edge Art Studio. 5:00 - 6:00pm
  • Tune in online to the Operation Wallacea talk; dive into environmental research and learn how you participate in the conservation journey. Booking required. 6:00 - 7:00pm
  • Join Bath University Model UN Society in a discussion on combating climate change through development aid and technology. Meet in CB 5.6. 6:15 - 8:15pm
  • Looking to start a green career? Students can join the Careers with Positive Impact webinar, where you can learn more about a green career. Booking is required. 6:30 - 8:00pm

Wednesday 13 March

  • Join the green movement by cycling to campus and doing your bit to save the planet! Various events are being put on, from free bike repairs to e-bike trials. There is something for everyone, so take some time to explore what's on offer.
  • Calling all UoB gardeners, connect with nature and help plant a new garden with the Pollinator Working Group. 12:00 - 2:00pm
  • Drop into Careers and chat with the team about all things Green Careers. 1:00 - 3:00pm
  • Join a friendly group on a community litter pick organised by the Student Community Partnership. Please get in contact if you have any questions. Dartmouth Avenue. 1:30 - 3:00pm
  • Get involved in the University's Gardening Club; in this session, you will help grow and maintain the community garden and greenhouse. You can also pick up a free plant! Booking required. 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Students only
  • Come along to a student-led Sustainability Tour of Bath, to learn from fellow students on how you can live sustainably in Bath, discover hidden gems and their favourite sustainable businesses. Booking required. Meeting in the SU foyer. 2:00 - 4:00pm
  • Say hello to our campus ducks with some duck-friendly food with the Duck Society.1:30- 2:00pm
  • Attend Bath University Left Union's event on Climate Action at the University of Bath. Have the opportunity to meet the Climate Action Team and ask questions! Meet in CB 4.1. 5:00 - 6:00pm

Thursday 14 March

  • Take a break from studying and admire our local views by joining the Bathscape Nature Trail; this will be a group walk. Booking required. 2:15 - 4:15pm. Students only

Friday 15 March

  • Nordic Walking is a great way to stay active and healthy, but is also an eco-friendly way to explore the outdoors. 2:30 - 4:15pm. Student only

Saturday 16 March

  • Through a series of thought-provoking speakers and engaging workshops, One Young World Bath aims to bring together a community of youths to discuss and exchange ideas on how society can tackle issues surrounding the following themes: Climate Justice, Mental Health in Sport and Peace and Reconciliation. Booking required. 10:00am - 6:00pm
