Terms of Reference

1) To consider cases for the proposed termination of contracts of academic staff on grounds of redundancy, including cases for normal proposed future termination(s) of a fixed-term contract(s).

2) To consider any future change to a service, function or unit that would result in significant implications for the staff structure and might result in a redundancy or redundancies.

3) To recommend for Council approval the termination of contracts of members of academic staff on grounds on redundancy.

4) To report to Council any proposed change to a service, function or unit that, further to consultation, might result in a redundancy or redundancies.

Membership

Total Membership Three voting members, two of whom are lay members of Council and one member of Senate
Term A member may serve for two consecutive terms of three years, not exceeding a total of six years.
Chair A lay member of Council, appointed by Council
In attendance Director of Human Resources, and other officers as required
Secretary Secretary to Council, or a member of their team

Procedural Rules

Procedure In the absence of any specific rules, the procedure is as set out in the Standing Orders of Council
Quorum Two, one of which is a lay member of Council and one member of Senate
Recommendations Submitted to Council for approval or referral back to the Committee
Minutes Submitted to Council
